By descent and definition every artist of today is an idiot. Whether he is talented, educated or willing to stand his ground, he is a product of the mass society and his prospects are only in the direction of modifying his idiocy and neurasthenia. I am speaking of rearranging individual gifts in accordance and together with the cultural context. The latter is a feast of the mass culture, advertising and global media soup. Some call this a process of defining new cultural identities in the globally expanded context. In all cases, however, there remain the questions of values and criteria, which in the post-modern era are not universal any more but refer to only limited topos and thus the change in the nature of art.
